Guide Trip - Wild Waters Adventure - Full Day

This is as pure of fishing as you can get in North Carolina. Hiking, Climbing, Trekking, and Fishing. All in the pursuit of the elusive and native Southern Appalachian Brook Trout. This is the only native species of trout/char in the southern states. You will more than likely encounter wild browns and rainbows along the way but Southern Brook Trout are the only native strain to the area and have the most vivid colors of almost any other cold-water fish in the US. 

This trip is for the adventure seeker and nature lover. Our guides have found themselves hiking miles across some of the most beautiful scenery in the blue ridge mountains to find these amazing fish. If you plan on booking this trip with us we have some precautions to outline. 

- Any client wanting to book a Wild Water guide should be in good health with plenty of stamina for backwoods trekking.

Carrying gear while Climbing, Scrambling, and balancing over large boulders and small waterfalls is a typical part of the day. Brook Trout live at higher elevations and we can easily hike 2 to 5 miles upstream and back in a day to find them.

- On any given trip we will be miles from the closest town or road with no cell service

- Clients should be comfortable with the basics of fly fishing, especially roll casting in tight areas. The average stream width can be from 20 feet down to 5 feet. You will snag a lot of trees and rocks.

- Please bring your patience. Wild fish spook easily, especially in low clear water. Working slowly and stalking fish is key to a successful day. 

- You will run into all kinds of native wildlife and plants on the trail. This includes the possibility of the following.

Bears, Deer, Snakes, Lizards, Frogs, Spiders, Biting Insects, Poison Oak, Poison Ivy, Thorns, Briars, and other assorted Flora and Fauna.

- Slips resulting in bruises and cuts are commonplace and come with the territory. We are as cautious as possible when on these trips but accidents can and do happen. 

- You will see some of the most beautiful hidden streams and scenery in the state

- Because of the close proximity of these trips we limit the number of people to two per trip.

- Your guide reserves the right to carry protection from wildlife, not only for himself but also for members of the party.

Our guides are all licensed by the state of North Carolina and have years of experience on our local waterways. They will be sure to leverage their experience to make sure you have the trip of a lifetime!

All full-day trips include lunch. If you have any special dietary needs or allergies please call us and let us know before the day of your trip.

No equipment is required to book a trip with Roots Outdoor. 

All waders, boots, rods, reels, etc. will be provided and can be selected in the booking menu when selecting the date for your party or through a Phone call or Email with our Guide Service after booking. We will also be providing premium home-tied flies by our licensed guides for your personal use and to fill up your box afterward.

If you are going on a summer trip we highly recommend wearing UPF sun protective and water-friendly clothing. We also highly recommend bringing a good pair of polarized sunglasses. If you are going on a fall or winter guide with us please remember to bring cold weather clothing including an insulated/water resistant jacket and warm socks.

Unless otherwise specified by us or your guide. You will meet your guide at Roots Outdoor NC in downtown Statesville, NC the day of your trip at your booked time. We have allowed for 1 hour of transit on the front and back ends of your booked time. Once you arrive at Roots our experienced staff will have boots and waders waiting for you based on the selection you made during your booking process. After quickly ensuring you have the correct fitting equipment for the day (and snagging a complimentary coffee on us) you will load up and head out with your guide. Transportation is not provided unless otherwise offered by your guide.

I, the undersigned, in consideration of the service of Roots Outdoor NC, its officers, employees, contractors, agents, or representatives, hereby agree to release and hold harmless All Water Guides on behalf of myself, my heirs assign, personal representative, and estate as follows: I understand and acknowledge that the activity I am about to voluntarily engage in as a participant bears certain known risks and unanticipated risks which could result in injury, death, illness or disease, physical or mental damage, or damage to myself, to my property, or to spectators or other third parties.

The following describes some, but not all of those risks. Risks include, but are not limited to: death, drowning, bodily injury, sunburn, dehydration, insect or animal bites, encounters with wildlife, and other harm which may be encountered in participating in wading, boating, guided, and unguided fishing, and those activities associated therewith. I expressly agree and promise to accept and assume all responsibilities and risk of injury, death, illness or disease, or damage to myself, to others, or to my property, arising from my participation in this activity. By booking my trip I agree to and acknowledge this document and fully recognize that if anyone is hurt or property is damaged while I engage in this event, I will have no right to make claim or file a lawsuit against Roots Outdoor NC or its officers, agents, contractors, or employees.

PHYSICAL HEALTH: To the best of my knowledge I, the client, have no physical restrictions which would prohibit my participation in any-and-all activities offered by Roots Outdoor NC, including fishing, wading, hiking, boating or consuming food or beverage prepared by the outfitter or their representatives. I certify that I have sufficient health, accident, and liability insurance to cover any bodily injury or property damage I may incur while participating in this event and to cover bodily injury or property damage caused to a third party as a result of my participation in this event. If I have no insurance, I certify that I am capable of personally paying for any and all such expenses or liabilities. Should emergency medical services become necessary to me or any minor I have authorized to participate in, I agree that I will not hold Roots Outdoor NC liable regarding the provision of medical and/or emergency care or the adequacy of any such care. All Water Guides reserves the right to decline service to any person it judges incapable of meeting the requirements of participating in fishing-related activities.

RELEASE & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISK: I understand and acknowledge that the activity I am about to voluntarily engage in as a participant bears certain known and unanticipated risks as described in this document. I expressly agree, and promise to accept and assume all responsibilities for all risks while I engage in this event, and agree that I will have no right to make claim or file a lawsuit against Roots Outdoor NC, or its officers, contractors, agents, or employees. I agree and acknowledge that I have read and fully understand the contents of this entire document, understand that it affects my legal rights, and agree to be bound by its terms. I, the client, understand all its terms and that it shall be effective and binding upon myself, my respective heirs, successors, and assigns. I execute it voluntarily with full knowledge of its significance.
